The Christmas Lights are
another highlight of the Mid-Northumberland Calendar.
They are good because there are lots of lights, they move, and they are themed to relate to their context. Things like a turkey outside the Gazette office - um, I mean outside Turnbulls butchers. Sorry. The lights are well known for being cool. They usually get some kind of national press coverage (sort of like the stories which local TV news always has at Christmas about how the Post Office have lots of cards to deliver). They are funded entirely privately. Businesses having their own displays and people being invited to sponsor bulbs. Given that Christmas is, mainly, for
most people, a happy time, it may be considered odd that two regular lights
consist of sad faces.
